St. Augustine

While we were in St. Augustine, Grace went to the pool for the first time! 

Sadly, she wasn't a huge fan of the water. (She has recently had a change of heart.) 

Can we all just agree that baby swimsuits are the cutest thing ever?? I have no self control. Grace currently has FOUR suits. 

  Before our trip, I had no idea that St. Augustine is actually this really cool, historical city. It was founded by spanish explorers in the 1500s so there are a lot of historical sites to go see. Behind us, you can see the Castillo de San Marcos, which is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. (Yes, I just copied that from wikipedia.)

We also looked around some of the little shops downtown. In addition to the sea shells you see in this picture, this shop also sold gator heads and gator claw keychains! We didn't get any.

We stopped at Kilwin's, an ice cream place that makes fresh waffle cones and other yummy treats.

We had such a blast with Ben and Kasey! They're the kind of friends that no matter how far away we live or how long its been since we last saw eachother, we will always pick right back up where we left off. We spent an entire night watching "Mermaids: The New Evidence" on animal planet and it was amazing. We honestly have fun no matter what we are doing with these two! Now we just need them to come up and visit us in Atlanta! (Hint! Hint!)

Beach Baby

I realize I have yet to post any pictures of us in Georgia, so if you were wondering, we ARE actually in Atlanta right now (and have been for about a month). However, just a few days after moving here, we packed right back up and took a trip down to Florida for memorial day weekend! Our good friends, Kasey and Ben, were staying in St. Augustine at Kasey's grandma's beach house and they were awesome enough to invite us along. 

While we were there, Grace went to the Beach for the FIRST time!! She loved digging her little toes into the sand. 

Grace FINALLY got to meet her Aunt Kasey, who has been spoiling her from afar. Seriously though, I think Ben may have banned Kasey from the baby section at Target.

I just can't get enough of her leg rolls.

It was such a fun trip! It could not have been more perfect. More pictures to come soon...

Six Months!

As usual, I'm a few weeks late posting this, but Grace turned six months old! This little munchkin is growing way too fast.

Here are Grace's stats from her six month check-up:

18th percentile for weight

65th percentile for height

68th percentile for head

Now, for the REAL news.  Grace started CRAWLING! She's still getting the hang of it but this girl is on the move! It's really cute because she tries to crawl like a little bear cub, with her back legs straight on the ground. (I'll try to post a picture of this soon.)

Mother's Day

You know those people that always come up with the most thoughtful and creative gifts?? Well sadly, I'm not one of them. I'm more of the, "Oh crap, [insert holiday] is tomorow??" type. And then I frantically throw something together.

So although I would like to take credit for my Mother's Day gifts this year, really, it was my Sister, Lindsay who came up with this cute idea. Since there are three of us sisters, each of us took a picture of our kids spelling out "We love you." (Lindsay's girls held the letters W-E, Grace had a white wooden heart next to her basket and Ashley's kids held up the letters Y-O-U.) So since I'm totally original and creative, I did the exact same thing for my Mother-in-law, but with just Grace. I was pretty happy with how it all turned out!

Not bad, huh? Good thing I have such a cutie pie to take pictures of. That really helped.

Well, I can't end this post without mentioning that this was also MY first mother's day. It was one year ago, on Mother's Day, that I announced on my blog that I was pregnant with Grace. I can't believe how much my life has changed in a year! Long gone are my days of sleeping in, going to the movies or running to the store "real quick" to grab something. My life is now strictly scheduled around feeding and napping schedules and I've become accustomed to carrying around about 20 pounds of baby gear (not including Grace) everywhere I go. 

I'd be lying if I said sometimes I didn't miss parts of that old life. But that's just because back then it was easy to be selfish. If there is anything having a baby has taught me, it's that you can't be selfish and be a Mom. (At least not a good one). I'm so grateful that Grace is helping me become a better and more selfless person every day. I really do feel blessed to be her mama!

So although this is incredibly late, happy belated Mother's Day to all of the wonderful Mama's out there!
