Keith's Birthday

Keith turned 25 yesterday! Even though his actual birthday was on Monday, we decided to celebrate on Saturday since we were both off from work/school. In honor of the big 25, I set up a Birthday scavenger hunt and made Keith follow clues around the house leading him to his gifts. (This is a total Carter thing.)

Every year on Christmas, my sisters and I would follow rhyming clues around the house leading us to our best gifts. So yeah, we are pretty big on scavenger hunts in my family. But you know what? Its awesome and it makes getting presents like 20 times more fun. At least I think so. (Keith might say otherwise but I'm pretty sure he secretly loved it.)

I will admit, coming up with all those rhymes was a little tricky. Also, there are really only so many places to hide clues in a one bedroom apartment. Things got a little weird.

The answer was the Diaper Genie, btw. (Taped to the outside, of course. I'm not that gross.)

Keith was super excited about the golf shoes I got him. I was NOT super excited about my camera being on some weird setting that made all of these photos extremely blurry.

After going out to dinner, we dug into this delicious DQ ice cream cake, specially requested by Keith. It was an excellent choice.

It was a very fun day! Happy Birthday to this amazing guy! We love you!

Springtime

I'm so happy that Spring is finally here! Everything is starting to look green again here in Texas and I'm LOVING all this sunshine! After church today, we went outside to take advantage of the gorgeous weather.

Grace had fun watching Chip run around.

Don't warm sunny days like this just make you happy?

Dallas Zoo

This last weekend, Keith and I took Gracie to the Dallas Zoo. I'm pretty sure we were a lot more excited about it than she was, but whatever. She'll appreciate the pictures someday or something, right?

Side note: I realize from these pictures that it looks like the Zoo is located in a nice, friendly Dallas neighborhood, right? Wrong! Do not be fooled. We seriously had to drive through the SKETCHIEST part of Dallas to get there. Just picture lots of barred windows and ghetto, old-school Cadillacs parked everywhere. I've honestly never seen so many "Lock your car. Take your keys. Hide your belongings." signs in one location.

But back to the Zoo...

These penguins were super friendly and kept swimming up to the glass. So cute!

This is Grace's "Safari" hat. It was a little big...

There were TONS of Giraffes! (I like this picture. Mostly because it reminds me of Jurassic Park.)

Americas next top Cheetah. Seriously though, check out that Blue Steel.

We weren't on a REAL safari, guys. I know this picture is pretty convincing, though.

I gave this guy the "Ugliest animal at the Zoo" award. What a scary face! He seriously might be the devil, himself. The best part though? There was some British lady next to me who kept saying, "Wow, look how beautiful he is!!" Okay, are we looking at the same thing, lady??

We had a really good time but by the end of the day we were all exhausted. If I had a stroller to fall asleep in, I probably would have looked exactly like this. (But a lot less cute, of course.)

Four Months

This past week, Grace turned 4 months old. Despite my best efforts to get a good four-month photo, this is what we ended up with.

To be honest, this is a pretty accurate depiction of Grace right now. She LOVES spending time on her tummy! As soon as you set her down on her back, she kicks her legs up and flips right over.

Having some fun with Chipper...

...maybe a little too much fun?

Okay, WAY too much.

And some more photos of this little cutie pie, just because.

Happy four months Gracie!
